know only a few of you came here for strategy tips, but I am going to go ahead and give everyone a bit of a pro tip anyway: Delver of Secrets is good. Now, I understand this information might have blindsided you, but it is a true—and very secret—fact, none the less. All right, you caught me, Delver being good is nothing new. What is new, though, is finding a deck that plays Delver but differs from the normal mold we have come to expect. Of course, Delver inherently requires a similar set of cards to make it function at the highest level, so it is easy to think that all Delver is the same. There are a few structural differences you might be able to draw up, though…
Segue (quite poorly) to Grand Architect. This has been one of my favorite cards ever since it saw print and it has also been one of the cooler cards to build around during that time. You can play Grand Architect like more of a traditional lord, which is what Magic Online user ziguyan did for today's Daily Deck. Or, you could choose to focus more on the artifact side of the Architect, which opens up entirely new doors. From there, there are a lot of knobs to turn to end up with every blend of the two strategies you can think of.
Talrand, Sky Summoner has made appearances in Delver quite often by this point, but when it gets combined with Grand Architect, those 2/2 Drakes become a little bit scarier. While ziguyan's list does not have much synergy with artifacts, it does have a trio of Equipment main and another trio in the sideboard that all get cheaper with an active Architect, not to mention Phyrexian Metamorph and Inkmoth Nexus as additional synergy cards. This has enough of the elements of Delver to be competitive, but enough quirky components that it also feels unique, which is a great place to be! So give the deck a whirl—Grand Architect doesn't have long before he heads to the Modern card pool, after all!
