If the first rule of Fight Club is don't talk about Fight Club, that rule was snapped in half this past weekend at Pro Tour Avacyn Restored. Justin Plocher saw the power of green cards in Innistrad Block and decided to create a fight-centric deck he dubbed Fight Club. Full of cheap, powerful creatures that curve nicely, Justin took his unique concoction to a Top 40 finish.
Young Wolf, Strangleroot Geist, Wolfir Avenger, and Predator Ooze is a pretty threatening creature curve to start with. Some of the most-played decks in the format can quickly be put under pressure if Plocher's deck hits its drops. But they all also share a unique trait: the ability to survive orchestrated brawls between your creatures and theirs!
Between Prey Upon and Ulvenwald Tracker, this deck lives up to its name. Once it gets rolling, each creature the opponent plays will get picked off in turn. If you can't kill off the Tracker, it becomes nearly impossible for the opponent to untap with a creature on the battlefield.
Even if you don't have any creatures on the battlefield, Garruk Relentless makes things even more difficult by coming down and taking matters into his own hands—then potentially producing an army of wolves to boot! And, conveniently enough, those deathtouch wolves play mighty well with the fight ability!
Take a look over Justin's decklist below, and don't miss his deck tech as he runs through his card choices. If you're looking for more on this archetype, check out the Pro Tour Avacyn Restored coverage!
