Think there are no cards in Standard that entice you to play a Warrior deck? Think again! StarCityGames.com columnist John Dale Beety took a unique spin on Standard in his recent article, using Descendants' Path as a way to make every tribe in Standard matter. Warriors were one of the tribes on John's radar, resulting in an exciting and fun deck worth giving a look!
The major advantage of Descendants' Path is the allure of free creatures every turn—and John has maximized just that by including a whopping thirty-three Warriors. How many cards in Standard can you think of that are Warriors?
Perhaps Kruin Striker and Zealous Conscripts come to mind. Some others might think of cards like Wolfir Avenger and Champion of Lambholt. But there are some far beefier ones out there—such as Wolfir Silverheart! The Wolf Warrior ensures your creatures will hit hard and strike your opponent down. With thirty-three Warriors in the deck, over half of the time you're going to be casting a free spell in your upkeep!
All tribal interactions aside, this deck can just beat down as well! The convenient thing about Warriors is they tend to be aggressive, and this deck can also just curve out with Champion of Lambholt and attack right past your opponents.
When you set down Cavern of Souls on the first turn and name Warrior, your opponents know they're in for something crazy—and this deck delivers. Check out the decklist below, and look into Descendants' Path for a fun choice to play at Friday Night Magic tonight! What unique creature type will you try to build around?
