ello everyone, and welcome back to Building on a Budget! I'm going to continue evolving the Reality Fracture deck from last week's article. But before we get to the blue-red mix, I have a breaking news story for you!

Clearly, Fun with Fungus won that poll, and by a sizable margin. However, I chose to evolve Reality Fracture first.
Let me offer my sincerest apologies to anyone who may have been offended by last week's article. To clear up any confusion: I usually get poll results on Wednesday around noonish, and my articles are due in around 10am on Thursday. This means that whatever polls I have in an article usually will apply to the article two weeks down the road.
Clearly what I should have done here was either word the poll differently (such as "Which Theme Deck would you like to see evolved the most?"), or I should have held off evolving any Time Spiral Theme decks for a week, and then gone with the Fun With Fungus deck.
For what it's worth, I've definitely learned my lesson from this, and I have two solemn promises. One: The next theme deck evolved in this column, after Reality Fracture, will be the Fun with Fungus deck. I have ideas, yes I do! The second is that never again will you see a poll in this column. I don't want to cause any hard feelings, so they are banished from Building on a Budget forever!

Anyhow, enough of that - let's get to the meat of this week's article.
When last we left off, I had just fixed the mana configuration of the deck and added in some Jhoira's Timebugs. I'm still unsure about how the deck plays out, since my last few games were marred by inconsistent mana draws. Before I make any huge cuts to the core of the deck, I want to get a better feel of how Storm and Suspend work, hand in hand.
Game 1: Weeell (Slivers)
Turn 1, I suspend Keldon Halberdier. I then suspend Rift Bolt on turn four, and he drops link, stuck at three mana. I would have had an Empty the Warrens for six on the next turn.
Game 2: Mack_Nasty (Mono-Black Control)
Turn 1: Suspend Halberdier
Turn 2: Jhoira's Timebug
Turn 3: Suspend Errant Ephemeron
Turn 4: Suspend Riftwing Cloudskate
I time it so my Halberdier and Errant Ephemeron come into play on the same turn. He casts Funeral Charm on my Halberdier, and I respond by using Timebug on the Cloudskate, to try to get it into play. He in turn responds with Sudden Death, killing my Ephemeron. I do get to save my Halberdier, but that good play saves him 8 points of damage on one turn.
Mack_Nasty then drops two Phyrexian Arenas and draws a billion creature kill spells. The game ends on back-to-back-to-back turns of Consume Spirit thrown straight at my nugget.
Game 3: TheMeek666 (5-Color Highlander Toolbox)
I get him to 10 with Suspend guys, but he kills them with Mortify and Wrecking Ball. I set up a turn where I go Rift Bolt, Clockspin it, then Grapeshot twice (once for three and once for four) for exactly the win.
Game 4: LordSanada (U/R Izzet)
He gets Gelectrode, burns me with some Ninth Edition burn spells, and then gets Wee Dragonauts. He has one big turn where he gets me down to 7 thanks to double sorcery/triple ping/double Dragonauts. I unsuspend Errant Ephemeron(he went up in the air on turn three), and it gets hit by Cancel. That allows me to Grapeshot for three
(killing his flyer) and then Ignite Memories for four, hitting 13 points worth of damage in his hand. Unfortunately, one of those cards in his hand is Blaze, and he Blazes me out of the game on the next turn.
Game 5: Jhestyr (White Weenie)
He drops a couple of smaller guys, including Soul Warden, and I firm down the board with Giant Oyster...that is, until he drops Witch Hunter! I don't get burn, and he bounces my Oyster off the board. He then drops Celestial Crusader and starts swinging. I cast Riftwing Cloudskate to get his bouncer off the board, but he gets Mouth of Ronom and kills my guy right back.
I then suspend both the Halberdier and Ephemeron on one turn, but he drops Opal Gargoyle, and things look grim indeed. Both my guys hit the board, and I swing for 4 (the Halberdier dies). I then burn Whispers of the Muse, cast Coal Stoker, and hit him with an Ignite Memories for five. His hand: Proper Burial. This does 20 damage to him...but he's at 27 life thanks to the Soul Warden, and I only did 24 damage in this one turn. I lose on the counterattack.
Well, I may have lost that last game, but I was definitely impressed with Ignite Memories. Around this time, the 3rd place deck from the Iwate Standard Championships (piloted by Seitarou Miura) is brought to my attention:

While this deck definitely is budget-busting (just look at that mana base!), it is definitely a concept worth revisiting later, depending on the poll results from last week.
Where should Ben focus his efforts for the Reality Fracture deck?

Aaaaannnd...the readers are in a dead heat between Suspend versus Storm, so let's aim for that in this article, and in the last part of this evolution as well.
Out go Giant Oysters, since they were not really part of the voted build of the deck. Claws of Gix are gone as well - one astute reader wrote about using Claws of Gix plus Repeal to spend one mana to up your Storm count by three and draw a card, but I'll revisit that idea in the future - for now, I just want to get a good idea of how the better cards in this deck work.
Speaking of better cards, Errant Ephemeron is definitely better in this deck than Viscerid Deepwalker. I swap them straight out three-for-three, and put in three Rift Bolt and a Serrated Arrows (just a good card in general) for the recently departed.

Game 6: [Name Withheld] (Solar Flare)
Hey, I remember a few of these decks winning State Championships a couple of weeks back! So does [Name Withheld], but "because he hasn't built a sideboard yet," he's playing it in the casual room. I get smashed eight ways to Friday by a turn-four reanimated Akroma.
How does Ben feel about people playing highly-tuned, several-State-Championship-winning decks in the casual room?
Game 7: Saffiron (R/G Aggro)
He casts double Magus of the Scroll, and I suspend Errant Ephemeron on turn two, and Keldon Halberdier on turn three. He drops Mogg War Marshal and swings with his team. I Clockspin Errant Ephemeron into play on turn five, then cast Grapeshot for three, killing his team. The Ephemeron is joined shortly thereafter by a Halberdier, and Rift Bolt seals the game for me.
Game 8: Manxset (R/G/W burn)
He gets turn-two Gruul Guildmage, turn-three Moldervine Cloak, turn-four Ronom Unicorn plus Mistral Charger. I suspend Ephemeron on turn three, kill the Charger on turn four with Serrated Arrows, and then die to Char on turn five. I'm definitely going to have to look into a way to stop a weenie rush - maybe the old standby of Pyroclasm?
Game 9: Alabaster Dragon (Mono-Black Madness)
I get Jhoira's Timebug, and use it to drop a turn-three Pardic Dragon. I get in a swing for 7 before he kills it with Nightshade Assassin. I then suspend double Errant Ephemeron, and he responds with Trespasser il-Vec on his turn. One-toughness creatures don't last long against this deck, and I use Coal Stoker plus Grapeshot to kill his team. On the next turn, both of my flyers come into play, I swing for 11, and then I Ignite Memories into a handful of his four-to-six cost spells, bringing Alabaster Dragon well into the negatives.
Game 10: Pondash (W/R Mid-Range)
He drops Zhalfirin Commander, and I suspend Deep-Sea Kraken on turn three and Errant Ephemeron plus Keldon Halberdiers on turn four. He attacks for three, and I suspend triple Rift Bolt on turn five. I have to use two of them to take out his Commander, but I aim the third at his head (taking him to 17) and then cast Ignite Memories for four, hitting Icy Manipulator, Icy Manipulator, Faith's Fetters and Cloudchaser Kestrel (15 damage). If I had sent either of the other Rift Bolts directly at Pondash, I would have killed him outright in one turn! As it stands, he's unable to deal with my other guys as they unsuspend, and I have no trouble dealing the last two damage to win.
So far, I've been outrageously happy with Ignite Memories, combined with burn and the efficient suspend creatures in this deck. In the last Reality Fracture build article, you'll see me take the deck in that direction - combining efficient suspend cards with the storm cards you know and love. See you then!
