Wrapping up Worlds
Event Coverage Staff
Saturday, December 22, 2007
s the calendar heads deeper into December, it's time to say goodbye to the 2007 Pro Tour season. The World Championships wrapped up an exciting season of new players breaking through for Pro Tour glory, established players tasting major victory for the first time, and a Hall of Famer having the best season of his illustrious career.
But not everyone has the time or energy to wade through more than 100,000 words, 8 hours of video, and 10 hours of audio coverage from the event. With the help of Hall of Famer Raphaël Lévy, Richard Hagon, and Evan Erwin, here's a look back at the culmination of biggest Magic event of the season.
Twelve months ago, Lévy had just been inducted into the Pro Tour Hall of Fame. Since then, he's traveled the world to play in Grand Prix and Pro Tours in 12 different countries, won two Grand Prix titles, made the Top 8 of a Pro Tour, and achieved Level 6 in the Pro Players Club. In the final installment of his Ask the Pro feature here on magicthegathering.com, Lévy shares his remarkable journey through 2007.
While not as far-traveled as Lévy, podcaster Richard Hagon has logged his share of miles this season. A regular member of the coverage team at Pro Tours and European Grand Prix, Hagon brings the game to your computer like no one else. His blend of storytelling, news gathering, and analysis gets to the heart of the game while still remaining accessible and inviting to Magic players who aren't regulars on the tournament scene. Listen in as Hagon boils down hours of Worlds audio coverage into these highlight clips. Part 3: Top 8 Recap and Winner's Interview
The last two months have been a bit of a whirlwind for Evan Erwin. His spot in the Magic Invitational brought with it an invitation to Pro Tour-Valencia, plus he trekked up to New York City to lend a hand with video coverage. Evan's been a busy man all that footage, and in between producing episodes of The Magic Show from Worlds, he was able to trim the Worlds Finals down to bite-sized highlights. In case you haven't seen it yet, we also threw in the highlights from the Patrick Chapin-Gabriel Nassif semifinal, which is already being called one of the greatest matches in Magic history.
