Amateur Tammy Ehrhart has been to four Grand Prix in the last year (including Heidelberg) alongside her boyfriend Brock Parker. Her best finish was in Atlanta, where her 51st place finish was good enough for $400 from the Amateur Award. She ran the table in Friday night's Grand Prix Trial and picked up three byes. Two more wins today earned her a seat in the feature match area across from the mighty CMU potato: Mike Turian.
Ehrhart had to mulligan before game 1 and Turian got yet another opportunity to tell his favorite story of the day: he won a game during round 4 despite being forced to mulligan down to just four cards. Her 6-card draw included two lands, but she only drew one more for the rest of the game. Turian showed no mercy, pounding Ehrhart with Aven Windreader and Laquatus's Champion.
Ehrhart and Turian chatted politely between rounds. Turian compared Ehrhart's living arrangements to a sitcom: she lives in College Park, Maryland with Brock Parker, Billy Jensen, and Dan Clegg. Matt Linde lives across the street and spends a lot of time at their place, gaming and watching their 57-inch TV.
Game 2 was only a little bit more interesting. Ehrhart kept removing Turian's creatures, but Turian had so many good ones that she was unable to keep the board clear. Laquatus's Champion was so good that she had to use her Mutilate just to get rid of it and nothing else. Zombify brought it back into play and Turian added a few more guys to his army. Soon it was all over but the chump-blocking.
